I would go ahead an lob a grenade into the window now, as a precaustion.
That the grenade might hurt your neighbor's family should be no concern to you. After all, he was an abusive drunk - in the long term, by blowing up the house you will be doing them all a favor.

One has to keep a stockpile of leaking dangerous toxic waste in your backyard, just in case your children think they have the right to a life without a poisoned earth... all the while threatening to release the gates on the toxic waste deluge that you can unleash at any moment on to neighbor's land. And perhaps releasing the toxic deluge s the first step in a greater community of the new order.
