http://www.onnnews.com/Global/story.asp?S=4566813MIDDLETOWN, Ohio Nearly three-thousand workers at the A-K Steel have been locked out.
The Ohio-based company turned them away from plants in Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania this morning when their old contract ran out without agreement on a new one. A spokesman says the two sides couldn't agree on terms that he says the company needs to stay competitive.
Workers gathered outside the Middletown plant, shouting "United we stand" and "No scabs."
The president of the union, the Armco Employees Independent Federation, says
the company rejected an offer to keep working under terms of the old contract.
No talks are scheduled and A-K Steel says it will use replacement workers to fill orders.
