Representatives of Local Teamsters 41 and Coreslab Structures Inc. sat down Wednesday, June 6, and reached an agreement on a four-year contract, ending the recent strike.
"Both sides met with a federal mediator," said Dan Brandt, Coreslab's director of human resources.
The 14 drivers involved in the strike were back on the job Thursday morning after the negotiation was final, he said.
Harold McLaughlin, president of Teamsters Local 41, said Coreslab and the union reached a settlement around 1:30 p.m.
McLaughlin said the 14 drivers went on strike because Coreslab was attempting to change pension, wages and strike language in the contract. Since the contract was not signed, workers were told on Thursday, May 31, not to return to work on Friday, June 1, which is also known as a "lockout."
"(A strike) is their only weapon," McLaughlin said. "We have to get where we want to be."
