Neb. man crushed by granite at Okla. business
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A Nebraska man has died after a large piece of granite weighing about 10,000 pounds fell on him at an Oklahoma City business.
A spokesman for family-owned Midwest Tile, Marble & Granite has identified the man as 21-year-old Adam McCabe of Lincoln, Neb., who was one of the sons of the owner.
Oklahoma City Fire Department Battalion Chief Bobby Lax says emergency officials went to the business on Monday afternoon after the piece of granite fell on McCabe.
McCabe was taken to a local hospital, where he died. His uncle, Joe McCabe, says the owners of the Lincoln-based business spent the day in Oklahoma City awaiting more information on the accident.
Officials from a regional office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
