Those little bumps Nebraskans are seeing in their paychecks are adding up.
In all, Nebraskans are taking home an additional $9 million a week due to the new worker tax credit included in the economic stimulus bill, U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson said Thursday.
For the year, the influx of money into the Nebraska economy will total $347 million, according to congressional research figures.
"Now Nebraskans will have extra money to pay bills, buy food, clothes or household items, enjoy a movie or go out to dinner with their family," Nelson said. "And every step of the way, Nebraskans will help turn our nation's struggling economy around."
The credit provides tax cuts of $400 per worker and $800 per working family. In all, 684,000 Nebraskans are projected to receive tax cuts under the credit. Most are receiving increases in their paychecks between $10 and $15 a week under withholding changes that were to have taken effect by April 1.
