OMAHA, Neb. -- An Omaha roofing company is facing a serious fine for violating Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules.
Miranda Roofing was cited for violations concerning safety measures to avoid falling. The company has been fined $148,400.
OSHA said the company had two willful, one serious and one repeat violation.
"There is no excuse for the lack of fall protection, and it's outrageous to think that employers still allow employees to be exposed to fall hazards without ensuring fall protection is in use," said Charles Adkins, OSHA's regional administrator in Kansas City, Mo.
The agency said Miranda Roofing failed to instruct workers in recognizing, avoiding and eliminating unsafe conditions that could lead to a fall.
The company has 15 days to appeal the citations.
