By Doug Cunningham
The U.S. Senate has voted overwhelmingly to block funding allowing Mexican trucks to carry freight anywhere in the U.S. While pleased with the vote,Teamsters President James Hoffa says the union will continue its battle to block Bush Mexican trucks plan for safety and national security reasons. Hoffa says it's also an effort to protect U.S. trucking and warehousing jobs.
: "They're licking their chops to leave America and to rebuild and put facilities down in Mexico - which would cost American jobs."
Hoffa says this isn't about being anti-Mexican.
: "This is not against the Mexican people, it's against lowering our standards. In the end we're basically making sure that American truck drivers have high standards and that the Mexican truck drivers are not exploited."
