yesterday. And learned that the US had contributed training, equipment and encouragement to that event.
And I began to wonder if the very same thing hadn't happened in El Salvador during the Matanza of 1932.
The excuse given by US officials for Timor is that we couldn't let it fall to Communism.
The election preceding La Matanza in El Salvador was the first time in this hemisphere that Communists were voted in by a landslide. None of them were seated. Hoover was President. And, although he gets a lot of credit for his "good neighbor" policy, so did every president in office from Ford to Clinton that enabled the butchery in Timor.
