This is exactly what faux news was waiting for when Mr. Obama decide to talk about race. Any statement adding a generalization to a group of people so they could exploit it.

You don't see them going after McCain for commenting that most americans see their doctor frequently. Barack's statement held more truth than that one. Now this isn't true for everyone, but I can bet most of those who are spewing this comment as racism get those feelings.

Granted, the term "typical white person" was an inelegant phrase, but where's the animus? I'm a typical white person. It doesn't register with me as racist because being a "typical white person" doesn't always start with racist assumptions, and it certainly didn't in this case. Faux is running with this meme because it riles up the idiots who drool before Murdoch's glowing propaganda box.

apart from melanin concentration, and other rather meaningless physiological traits, what are the attributes of a "typical person" of a given race.

i don't think there are typical beliefs or traits of people that can be distinguished via race (except for very narrow physiological stuff like susceptibility to certain diseases (sickle cell anemia), etc. and we know that's now what we are talking about.

thinking that there ARE certain attributes of a person based on their race is more than inelegant.

and i say this as an obama supporter. i am not a huge fan by any stretch, but he's certainly a better choice than hillary.

I know many white people, including some dear friends, who feel that way. In fact, I would call such behavior and fears "typical." People who think otherwise need to get out more. There is nothing racist about that comment. Regardless of what some have said on this post, this is right wing spin from a major polluting source of the right wing noise factory, being passed on to supposed liberals by supposed Democrats for their own purposes.
