|
...so an incompetent president who urged the nation to go into a war under a barrage of lies and kept the nation in that failed war on the basis of false pride and a refusal to admit he has made a mistake, no appointed a General who has been given the mission to keep the war going at least until President Bush is safely out of office so that he can save face and pass this problem and mess onto the next president.
Bush will give the stinking turd of a war most willingly to the next administration, smirking and laughing all the way the Paraguay!

...you're a student of American history, you know that peaceful coexistence hasn't been America's mission for a very, very long time.
Maybe it was in the early days but not now.
This is not the United States of Northern California and Massachusetts.
I know you want it to be and others want it to be but it isn't and never will be.
Five hundred people per day move to Arizona. One thousand per day move to Florida. Both states are red and McCain is almost assured of carrying them in the Electoral College.
I grew up in the NE Ohio burbs. A good friend of mine is distantly related to Kucinich and they're all wondering what's happened to him. His own family thinks he nuts.

I grew up in Lakewood, Ohio, where Kucinich is from. I graduated from Lakewood High School. I then graduated from The Ohio State University. I've been well acquainted with Dennis Kucinich for my whole life. Let me tell you, he is a true liberal, and a great guy...but he doesn't know jack about running a government. I wonder if the Iraqi's ever got that 6 ft. tall "sorry" card that he had made for them...
He bankrupted the city of Cleveland when he was mayor, and now he's preaching about fiscal responsibility?
I want the war to end ASAP. Let's win it and bring our troops home.
Peace to all of my fellow Americans.

"Let's win it and bring our troops home."
America and the coalition of the willing have not been fighting a war in Iraq since the summer of 2003 when the President stood on an aircraft carrier in full codpiece and regalia and stated, "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended and America and her allies have been victorious." We are not at war in Iraq. We are illegally occupying Iraq! Unfortunately for your premise, which I quoted above, there is NO way that you can win an occupation. You either annex the territory and control it (essentially what the "surge", read as: escalation, has failed to do) or you get the hell out! Those are the only 2 options! There is no winning!
Rep. Kucinich is absolutely spot on here! What are we waiting for indeed? I am a Operation Enduring Freedom Vet and have more than a dozen friends who have come home from the sands of Mesopotamia in flag-draped boxes. What did they die for? What has this war/occupation gained us? Even General Petraeus wont say outright that this war has made us safer because he's not really a fool (just a sycophantic lackey) and he's not willing to lie to Congress when there's the possibility that war crimes are in the offing at some point in the future. It certainly hasn't "paid for itself with Iraqi oil" as Paul Wolfowitz told us. Now we find out that Iraq is making Billions of dollars in increased oil revenue while you and I are paying for the reconstruction of their country. It certainly hasn't established a beacon of Democracy in the region that other nations can follow. Quite the contrary. Hezbollah winning in Lebanon, Hamas winning in Palestine, and Ahmadinajhad and the mullahs gaining more power every day in Iran are testament to that fact. It certainly hasn't stopped terrorism. Every poll taken states unequivocally that terrorism has done nothing but increase since our invasion and occupation.
In other words, how about you actually address the very real, very salient positions that Rep. Kucinich outlines here rather than spouting a right-wing talking point and completely dismissing what this man has to say? If he's such a bad politician and bankrupted Cleveland when he was Mayor, why do they keep nominating and electing him to the Congress by overwhelming margins? Me thinks you dost protest too much and just don't want to have to admit to yourself and your friends that you were hoodwinked by this administration's lies.

What are we waiting for? Until you're sipping on your last bowl of gruel before you storm the gates of power? Are we going to wait till we're too weak before we act or now while we still have strength?
Those of you involved with already organized groups for non-violent political change must co-ordinate and organize - if you don't belong to one, it doesn’t matter, because what we must do now is find out how many of us are willing stop this madness now. No matter if it's war, economy, impeachment, 9/11, take your pick, we need to get these supposed leaders to LISTEN TO US!
WE CAN DO IT! It won't cost a penny, and in most cases will turn out to be funny - in all cases revealing, some cases may be tragic, but hopefully not - it will not fail to make headlines - it will bring commerce to a screeching halt - and it will change the world for better overnight ... this Monday as many of us who can make it need to show-up at our local representatives office nude ... that's right, naked as the day you were born. No ID's, no nothing, just us wanting them to know that we'll be back again and again in all our glory until they start doing their jobs. (Being fair - those of extra-modest nature may wear underwear - those in cold/wet weather, overcoats - hell, just show-up!)
They’re stripping us naked anyway?
If 1,000 commit around the country and they can get one each, and so forth and so forth, what would they do if 10,000 people showed-up nude around the country asking to speak to their representatives? Tear gas us? Fire hose us? We're NAKED! How's THAT going to play?! How many representatives would join us? (Talk about "full disclosure")
Spread this around - let's see who's willing put their principles where their pants use to be!

Tonight I watched the movie Stop Loss. I must have heard, in recent years, that American soldiers were being being sent
back to Iraq involuntarily, but like too many people, forgot about it.
I've been shaken to the core by this war before, and tonight some thing reached in and tore out a piece of me.
It wasn't like "This could have been one of sons" because it couldn't happen in Canada. More like, this is what is
happening to America's youngest and bravest soldiers and their families, their plans for the future.
Why CAN'T the Congress and Republicans who are opposed to the war, throw down a gauntlet, introduce some kind of
amendment, to stop the killing, maiming and destruction of human life that is the God damned for sure, Iraq war.

Why? Because we have a public that sits on their asses when they should be physically in the faces of those that say they speak for us demanding that they do the people's will. Otherwise you wind-up with cretins like cheney who feel comfortable enough to get on national TV and tell us "So?" - as in "Fuck you, what are you going to do about it?"
What are you going to do about it?

Pelosi, Reid hoped to marganilize Dk. Well, there is an alliance of Democratic candidates seeking election in November to the HOuse. Lets just hope that is so, since so many of these Democratic challengers are in Republican leaning districts.

"... if the democracy survives that long."
What "democracy"? It's easier to climb a greased poll than get on a ballot and once you're on you face a media set-up to destroy you the moment you go off message, all the while you're begging for money from people that are more often than not opposed to anything progressive and then you go against rigged voting machines that make the whole process moot. And if you should somehow make it into office where 98% of incumbents get re-elected you face the fate DK is in where he's ignored and ridiculed by those that have sold their souls for a few pieces of silver.
This is a country that claims to have a democracy, but it's in name only. Strip away the thin veneer and we're a fascist state.

He and Obama would actually make a good ticket- President, VP or vice versa.

|
as a people and as a democracy and yell we are mad as hell....but only a few of us did. The rest of the nation just said 'Oh well" and went back to sleep. He was and is Number One.

| 51. For the life of me I will never really understand |
|
how this man got so little PUBLIC attention during his campaign (I know the media ignored and marginalized his campaign, it's the electorate I am referring to). Web site after web site offering "blind taste tests" on the candidates repeatedly showed that Kucinich's views were far and away the closest to that of the general public, and yet he received little support. Makes no sense to me, never will I guess.

| 70. Its too bad the media is controlled by money because if they... |
|
would have actually covered DK like one of the mainstream candidates, his message would have hit home with so many. Instead they try to black him out and when that doesn't work they switch to belittling him.
I wish Obama would bring him in as VP, not only would we have a voice out there but there is no way the corrupt system would take out Obama because they would have DK to deal with.

| 77. It's not just the media, the DLC also tried to get him out of office |
|
by funding his competitors campaign in the primary as he's too progressive for the DLC's liking. If nothing else, I hope ALL Dems are committed to voting any DLC Democrats out of office at each opportunity to do so.
