1. No, not spineless but rather..

.. owned and compromised as a propaganda
arm for any government or official that
is friendly to corporatism, free trade,
globalization, and big oil.

The problem is that the media has a spine
covered with cement, the cement of neofascist
economics and big government and militarism
that suppresses dissent and good information.

That spine is not flexible. It's like a metaphor
for what is wrong with America and the world.

2. I agree with all that but I think they're spineless too. Except for Helen Thomas.

And Phil Donahue and KO and Daniel Schorr.
