3. Another lie from the McCain campaign and the corporate media

The McCain campaign immediately went into full outrage mode after Obama said the "lipstick on a pig" line. They are demanding an apology from the Obama camp and feigning indignant outrage. They are saying that Obama was refering to Mrs. Palin as a "pig" simply because Mrs. Palin previously used "lipstick" as a punchline when comparing a "hockey mom" to a "bulldog" during her RNC speech.

This morning CNN's John Roberts talked about this so-called controversy. He showed a video clip of Sarah Palin immmediately before showing the one of Obama saying "lipstick on a pig". CNN ran just that one, isolated line: Obama saying "lipstick on a pig". CNN showed nothing else and did not replay Obama's words leading up to the "lipstick on a pig" line. They were clearly carrying water for the McCain camp, repeating their ridiculous charges and creating the false impression Obama had called Palin a "pig". This is an outright Lie by CNN.

Obama did not even mention Sarah Palin when he made that statement. He was talking about John McCain's policies and how he is trying to recycle Bush's old ideas and call them "change". "Lipstick on a pig" is a clear reference to McCain trying to dress up Bush's failed policies and call them "change". He was not calling Sarah Palin a "pig". Both CNN and the McCain camp know this, yet Mcain and the media would have the public incorrectly believe that Obama disrespected Palin and called her a "pig". He did not. CNN and the McCain campaign are lying to the American public.

WAS refering to Palin as a Pig. And she is. No sexism involved. She is another corporate pig stooge. She is a pork laden tool for the consumer culture.

Don't get defensive, it was a great line, worthy of the Daily Show.

5. I agree...it was a great line

It's a great line and it works on various levels. Palin made use of the "lipstick" punchline during her acceptance speech, so the public associates Palin with that word: she's the lipstick-wearing bulldog from Alaska. And it doesn't hurt that McCain has used the "lipstick on a pig" line in the past, as have many others; it's a commonly used phrase and everyone knows what it means. It's not an openly sexist remark in any way.

Obama was attacking McCain for recycling and re-branding Bush-Co's policies by accusing him of simply putting "lipstick on a pig". Obama and his handlers knew full well that the public would recall Palin's RNC speech and make the all-too-obvious connection in their own minds. It was a very deft use of language and shows that Obama is on top of his game. The line about rotting "fish" was also brilliant, McCain does sort of resemble one. It's a sly joke with a lot of hidden subtext, the kind of stuff we see on the Daily Show every night.

McCain's campaign has been suckered into this controversy....they themselves compared Sarah to a pig by feigning outrage and making the previously unstated connection obvious for all to see. They have given life to this joke and played into Obama's hand. However, this doesn't alter the fact that the Media is still trying to falsely create the impression that Obama actually called Palin a "pig". And that's an outright lie.
