If anything, he was trying to get her to clarify her point. She casually threw out terms like "leftist agenda" and "leftists" and "liberals" and seemed to automatically equate them with being un-American. She did that several times before he finally asked her to clarify what she was trying to say.

I think that's one of the big differences between a "news man" and a "journalist." Newsmen/women are all about the BUSINESS of news, not so much the news itself. I'm not necessarily saying that Chris Matthews is one, but I do believe that broadcast media suffers from this more than print media.

There are lots of newsmen/women on cable television. Very few journalists....

I'm not typically a fan of Matthews, but this clip was an absolutely brilliant demonstration of how to slowly feed a rabid politician enough rope to thoroughly hang herself.
