|
Edited on Wed Mar-11-09 08:09 PM by Seldona
I believe so anyway. The first sentence is rather garbled.
*edited to add now it sort of sounds like 'Just some people having a good time.' Something along those lines anyway.

|
I couldn't understand the first word of the guy coming out of his apartment. He said it was an Arabic word meaning, "I'll get you later." Did you catch it? I played that part 3 times & still didn't understand.

|
Found it http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/03/09/rush-limbaugh-voice-of-th_n_173000.html">here on Huffington Post. The full context: CALLER: It was like a college fraternity prank that stacked up naked men -- LIMBAUGH: Exactly. Exactly my point! This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation and we're going to ruin people's lives over it and we're going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You ever heard of need to blow some steam off?

The acting was well done, as well as the timing imo. The look on that woman's face as she sat on the bench after the guy had made his sexist comment made it worth watching again it was so funny. Nailed it.

And what I meant is that ambitious women were basically screwed before the women's movement came along, & not necessarily where they enjoy being "taken".

This is perfect. It illustrates how we, as Americans, will listen to outrageous statements on the radio, but would never say them ourselves. This is what it takes to expose the demagogue.

| 25. Limbaugh, celebrating genocide and dispossession |
|
http://www.brotherhooddays.com/HEROES.html#RUSH%20LIMBAUGH: RUSH LIMBAUGH: (Hosts the most popular radio talk show in America, also regarded as a world class gasbag, pill-popping blowhard, and shameless, self promoting, self absorbed, namedropping sycophant) -In my opinion- "I don't give a hoot that gave some Indians a disease that they didn't have an immunity against." 17). (Quote from his best selling book, "The Way Things Ought To Be." pg. 45).
"There are more American Indians alive today than there were when Columbus arrived or at any other time in history. Does this sound like a record of genocide?" 17).(Quote from his best selling book, "I Told You So." pg. #68). Rush must be using the "new math" to arrive at this conclusion. Most experts today, feel that in the United States and Canada alone, there were in 1492, approximately 10 to 20 million Native Americans.1). By 1900 there were less than 250,000 Native people left alive, a decline of well over 98%. At the time the "all knowing" Rushkie wrote this book there were approximately 2,300,000 enrolled native people and an additional 1,000,000 other Indian people of various degrees of Native blood. Using a very, very, generous figure of 3,000,000 Native people, there were at the time of this quote at least 15,000,000 fewer Native people alive as compared to 1492, a decline of at least 83%.
"Columbus saved the Indians from themselves."17). (Quote from his radio show.) Left to themselves the Taino People, over a period of thousands of years, formed a peace loving, prosperous civilization that numbered in the millions. After 50 years of Spanish domination they were reduced in number to nearly zero. It is my hope that the United States or any other nation ever again has to face such a "savior." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the website, "International Brotherhood Days," http://www.brotherhooddays.com dedicated to the memory of Severt Young Bear Sr who believed in education, cross-cultural understanding, and respect. If Severt represents the light, Limbaugh certainly is a dark shadow on the human spirit.

| 26. The clip is actually rather mild |
|
compared to some of the venom he's spewed. His comments about Michael J. Fox, Chelsea Clinton, and feminism allowing "unattractive women access to mainstream society" come to mind. He is indeed the voice of the current Republican party, after they've chased away anyone with an iota of common sense, intelligence, compassion or decency.
ITA with the upthread DUers who said this clip could easily have been an hour or more. Editing down Rush to his most hateful . . . how do you choose just a couple of minutes with so much material to work with?

...when it comes to questioning limbaugh, why, when quoting his objectionable material, are his accusations of murder, leveled at a sitting President and his wife, always left out? I'm glad for ANY criticism of limpy and/or hannity, but these quotes are pretty tame compared to the ones he aimed at the Clintons. When Bill was running for re-election, limpy and hannity spent many hours of air time forwarding the 'theory' that the Clintons were drug runners down in Arkansas who found it necessary to kill interlopers from time to time, including a couple of innocent teenagers who were in the wrong place/time. As recently as the primaries limpy eluded to Hillary's murder of Vince Foster, when he said during the primaries that those opposing Hillary had better "watch out" because of what happened to Foster.
Why limpy and hannity aren't called out on these baseless accusations which amount to defamation at the very least, is beyond me. Is it somehow irrelevant because it was a while ago? Or is it because there are no show transcripts or tapes from that era? I think that exposure of those facts would further turn-off young people, people who are too young to remember and also people who just don't know about those treasonous times. limbaugh and hannity helped to whip-up the hysteria that impeached a very successful President, a President that helped EVERYONE rich or poor. They're trying to do it again. Call their sponsors, tell 'em why you can no longer buy their products. If we all do it, it will have an effect.:grr:
