I don't remember Christ telling people to go to hell for wanting peace; he actually says quite the opposite. Most of Jesus' words are of peace, tolerance, and universal love and acceptance; to take only one of two subjectively aggressive comments and run with it while discarding the majority of His teachings and principles means ANYTHING but well read. How about you read the entire NT and base your analysis off of that. Don't take an asshole like me or anyone else's word for it. See for yourself. Most scholars believe that wasn't meant to be taken literally anyway. Christ was telling his disciples to get ready for the challenges they were going to face; if anything it's a justification for self defense, not waging war; there is a difference.
