7. Personally, I hate it when people say this.

You can't fight back if you don't know what the other side is saying. Not only is it worth our time to listen to it we should be remembering it and the necessary counter-arguments. When a right-winger starts throwing this stuff around nothing flusters them more than to tell them exactly where they got their crap information from and then proceed to tear down their source. They know they are pawns and it is great to see their faces when they realize you know it too.

These clips aren't going to kill anyone. Someone says this every time and it annoys me every time.

I'm glad your in for the long haul. Being that you are here for the long haul you know that the game is played on both sides and both sides produce this kind of rubbish. It is in our interests to know what flavor they are spreading. If you can't stomach the content of their message you don't have the stomach to counter it. Part of being informed is knowing what they are saying.

This is a public forum on the internet. Everybody feels entitled. Post counts and join dates don't really mean jack. I started visiting this site everyday for over a year before I actually joined (and my join date was in 2005 so you don't have to check) and I have been reading the content of it everyday since. Maybe my post count doesn't reflect that but posting isn't required to be informed, know the people on this forum, and read and watch the content. When it comes to voicing my own opinion I prefer to do it face-to-face with the opposition. This forum is a sounding board more than anything.

10. I wish Glans Beck all the personal misery in the world

I hope he never gets any time with his family, that when he spends nights away from home that his wife cheats on him, I hope he secretly starts drinking or that his Dr. will rescind his Rx to the Ritalin, and he would then sink into a deep pit of personal dispair... Oh, yeah, I hope his ex-wife keeps track of every raise he gets and takes a 35% chunk for the two kids he abandonded. And then went out and got a couple of repacement kids. I hope all his kids will grow up to find that their father is a lying pompous ass and have nothing to do with him. I hope he loses his Temple recommend and that his garments catch fire. I just can't stand anyone who thinks they are that funny.

an extension of the tactic of attacking someone's strength (swift-boating Kerry etc). If it doesn't work to discredit Obama, at least it will engage and distract the left for a period of time. Responding/not responding to it is usually a no win situation. ("When did you stop beating your spouse?") But in this case it is so ludicrous a complaint, that the left sounds equally ludicrous responding to it.

13. I disagree.

There are always 2 schools of thought on handling right wing nut-jobs:

1)-Ignore them and they'll go away. Paying attention to them gives them want they want and legitimizes them.

2)-Shine a bright light them and expose their smears, lies and hypocrisy/insanity.

I vote for option 2, because before Media Matters, Crooks & Liars, NewsHounds, ThinkProgress, etc., everyone was pretty much all about option 1 and it sure as hell didn't work. That's party of why Fox News exploded and far too many people took it seriously.

Another example is that while Limbaugh's ratings may go up when he's talked about, average 'moderates' out there find out about him and hate him which marginalizes him further. Same thing with Glenn Beck and Michelle Bachmann.

and I have felt the same way about Limbaugh and others on many occasions. I guess I am continually dumbfounded by the idiocy of the "general public" and find it hard to believe that ANYONE would fall for this crap. But then, I keep forgetting how easily they swift=boated Kerry.
