The Secret Service were a little spooked I think - no doubt all of the girls had been pre-checked, but they rushed the stage a bit quickly and you can see the SS come a'runnin'

funny because they are obviously all adoring school girls, but I'm very glad that the SS is being so cautious.

It was nice how they didn't remove the girls' arms, they just sort of hovered over the FLOTUS and let her get the hugs.

It's their job. You never know what's going to happen. If someone's life is in your hands, you're going to make sure everything is ok before relaxing.

Especially with the historical context of Pres. and Mrs. Obama.

One of my best friends is a SS agent. He says they are 100% committed to protecting whomever they are assigned to protect. She was leaning over the side of a stage getting hugged by little girls. She could have easily fallen or been accidentally pulled off the stage. Would you want to be the SS agent that allowed that to happen? I imagine that would be a hearty ass-chewing by the boss.

Yes people are screened. Yes sometimes they miss something also.
