She is not frumpy. It appears that she is wearing a rather nice dress and her hair is done. The beautiful people may not approve but she is not frumpy.

She is a cross between Aunt Bea and Jane Hathaway in need of a serious mowing of the eyebrows. A few molecules of makeup wouldn't hurt either.
Having said that, I wouldn't want her to change a thing! She is perfect.

Trust me, even a talented person does not want to be thought of as homely or frumpy. Too sad that the beautiful people don't know that. Not even for a marketing gimmick. Go figure. How lovely it will be when this show shapes her so that she is suitable to the eyes of the masses.

don't know what acts are coming up. The producers and the two guys backstage have seen the acts before, they knew, but not the judges.

THAT was the missing link! So the REAL back story is that she had not been singing until she prepared for this audition. I would LOVE to know the backstory to the backstory. The backstage guys were an absolute hoot! THEY knew and totally supported HER knowing!

| 10. And here's a terrific editorial about Boyle |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-15-09 09:54 PM by rocktivity
...(A)...judge...wrote...that just before she launched into I Dreamed a Dream, the 3000-strong audience...was laughing and the three judges were suppressing chuckles...Susan Boyle from Blackburn, West Lothian, was presumed to be a buffoon...
But then ridicule is nothing new in Susan Boyle's life...At school she was slow and had frizzy hair...She is a stranger to romance...(W)hen her father died a decade ago, she cared for her mother and sang in the church choir...(B)eing a carer isn't a glamorous life...(they) don't often get invited to sparkling dinner parties or glitzy receptions...(W)hen a special occasion comes along, they might reach, as Susan did, for the frock they bought for a nephew's wedding...Would...slimming and exercising, plucking and waxing, bleaching and botoxing...have made her voice any sweeter?
She has lived an obscure but important life...(as) a companionable and caring daughter. It's people like her who are the unseen glue in society; the ones who day in and day out put themselves last. They make this country civilised and they deserve acknowledgement and respect...(link):headbang: rocktivity

Simon is a lot of things. Stupid isn't one of them.
Even if she simply went back home and never made a penny or a pound with that voice of hers, nothing will ever be the same.
I love her. Can't wait for the CD personally.

The title you gave this thread SUCKS! You are a rude and cruel person - the opposite of your screen name.
I am glad I found this video in Triana's thread and was able to watch it w/o your sickening comments.
Susan Boyle is a beautiful human being. You are not.

for not fitting into some 3-panel-judge-commercially-conceived visual idea? I REVEL IN SUSAN'S TRIUMPH! :bounce::bounce::bounce: She took her l-o-n-g-s-h-o-t in an extremely dangerous venue. WHATTA GAL!!!!
May she find the "perfect" coach!!! May she spend the next decade SINGING!!! Taking bets now: How long before a duet with her and Paul hits the racks?
REMEMBER EDDIE THE EAGLE!! ;-)

|
Funny, I thought she's a beautiful person whose inner values are clearly exposed through her "plain" veneer; that is, she spent her younger years unselfishly taking care of her mother & putting herself last. I didn't see her as frumpy, although I'd advise her to thin her eyebrows a little. With the help of professionals, she could easily look like a beautiful swan.
