11. United Socialists States of America

I usually don't blog but Janine Turner calling the United States the United Socialists States of America went over the top when Glen Beck was extolling the virtues of Woodrow Wilson and that we don't know our own history. Glen should speak for himself; Pres Wilson presided over a country that allowed the greatest number of KKK memberships we'd ever seen. This, at the height of when domestic terrorism took the lives of over 5000 men, women and children - lynched while their country looked the other way. There is more than one book to read and he didn't tell me to read it. "Lies my Teacher Told Me" is another. Pres Wilson was a great man if you weren't a person of color.

My great grandfather was one of the members of the black 11th regiment who charged up San Juan Hill with Teddy Roosevelt, my grandfather was on the outskirts of Berlin when Germany surrendered, my uncle died in some far away rice paddy in VietNam in '65; all without the benefit of full equality as citizens of our country. And still we came when we were called. I served 20 years in the military; my 1st son came back from his third tour of Iraq just this past January. My second son is on the high seas right now helping to search for pirates as we blog. My nephew is in Iraq right now patrolling the streets and exposing himself to the dangers of IEDs and snipers. When I watch this video of these two 'entertainers' who were eligible to serve their country about the same time I was, I think of shivering in the night on duty while Glen was detoxing in a holding cell. They don't want me to learn about our national history - they want to go back to a time when I knew my place. Can't wait to see them on TV again....
