| 1. NPR is so annoyingly cheerful and "nice." |
|
The lack of emotion in reporting this is really troubling. Torture is evil.

| 2. I agree totally with your point. Everything appears to be trivial |

anymore. I will state once again what I have said since the Iraq war. Iraq will be the US's Parthia. We are done as a nation and are in the process of slow disinegration.

| 3. At NPR, it's an intellectual exercise. |
|
The introduction of the discussion struck me most: 'There was anger today at the release of the memos.' Not any anger about what was in the memos; stripping people naked, dowsing them with cold water, waterboarding them, throwing them against a wall, exploiting the fear of insects etc,.
That's all in a days work for the brave people protecting us from the Godless, turbaned hordes who hate our lifestyle. Here at NPR, we're going to engage in an intellectual exercise about the pros and cons of the issue of torture in the same tone as if we're talking about what flowers will be good to plant in your garden this summer.
Shapiro, at least, appears to be somewhat cognizant of the issue at hand, whereas Margaret Warner has got this disturbing robotic Stepford grin on her face the whole time, like she's got puppies running through her mind, or something.
