This video is very disturbing. I noticed myself how highly rated videos were of the Kerry gaffe and couldn't figure out why they were getting so many high view numbers. Maybe this explains it?

It appears that they have found away around not only youtube but google itself, so that they can control what shows up in a search. Appears to be a mega google bomb of some sort? :shrug: Hopw someone that knows something about this type of hack will see this and respond.

It is an exploit of the ranking mechanism; the more pages that link your stuff, the more 'famous' you are. PR firms have time and money to create pages that link stuff they want to be highly ranked.

The beginning of the video shows that Google applies a sandbox effect, which prevents a link from being immediately available the day that it is posted.

12. Reference the Kerry gaffe video, it did show a tremendous number of views.

It was only one sentence, so there was no context whatsoever. There were over 1700 comments posted, and most of them were irrational and unhinged. My favorite lunatic poster said that Kerry got a self-inflicted piece of shrapnel in his butt when he tossed a grenade in a rice paddy to see what would happen.

Stupid people shouldn't breed, because they have stupid kids who grow up and post stupid comments on public forums.

YouTube is a fun site, but if it's being manipulated for political purposes, it will become too boring for most users.

30. There's some Firefox extension that makes multiple hits on a video

and generates 1000s of hits for a clip. They get high ratings without being viewed, but get on most viewed pages where they get publicity they didn't earn.

I can see why YouTubers are mad about it.

some asshole comes along and kills the cool. Hell they have Dan Senor on the Board of Directors for Google now. Rupert Murdoch owns MySpace.com and YouTube will soon be all generic BS advertising. The best thing to do is seek out the new stuff before it gets mainstream. Ask.com has just come out with a newer search engine that pulls up quick glimpse mimi pages and has the same algorithm setup as Google. It's a bit like Netflix but a search engine.

The "conservative_YouTubers" Group and their leader, Michelle_Malkin, are flagging videos they don't like, and M_M has her own little channel, where she posts her Hate Speech.

And guess what!?! NONE of her videos that I and several other DU/YouTube members flagged as "Hate Speech" have been removed or even marked as flagged or as inappropriate!!!

If you have a membership at You Tube, you should check out their "discussion threads" in the above group and/or "Flag as Inappropriate" a few of Her hate filled videos as "hate Speech" or "Other TOS Violation" or what ever you deem appropriate.

I began to suspect that something like this was going on after watching the video rant by that hypocritical, shirtless red-neck that was posted here (sorry, but their is no better way to describe the guy) because of the random nature of the way the videos I posted were getting removed.

They were nothing subversive, but the ones that criticized Bush or the RW definitely were the first to go.

Anyway, enough of my griping, the main point of this post is to point out this hateful Group of "conservative_YouTubers" (Conservative Potatoes?).

What should be done here? Because, these Conservative Potatoes are on a campaign to stifle free speech on YouTube now too!

Note: I put the underscore between the words so that, hopefully, those darn Conservative Potatoes won't find this post with "the Google" :evilgrin:

And I'm not even going to get into all the members and videos that I had bookmarked before the Google take over that are now gone. I was going through old bookmarks last night, at least 19 of 20 had been removed. I have another post about this in my DU Journal.

33. I knew something was up on YouTube that day

It really didn't sit right that the anti-Kerry videos were getting so many thousands of views. A story on sex wouldn't get that many views, so a lame joke was all of a sudden the top ranked video. I'll have to admit I had my doubts about YouTube viewers that day. Now it is all explained. The republicans cheated -just like they always do. Fuckers!
