On June 1, 2009, Gov. Brian Schweitzer of Montana came to Connecticut to rally Connecticut Dems to help us take back our governorship.
Connecticut Bob, famous CT blogger recorded Schweitzer's speech as well as taped interviews from CT Democratic officials. You can go directly to CTBob's web site to see Gov. Schweitzer's speech and also check out interviews of some of Connecticut's politicians including 2 of the 3 gubernatorial candidates --
Susan Bysiewicz and
Dan Malloy.
Jim Amann is the other gubernatorial candidate and either CTBob could not get him or Amann's distaste towards CT Bloggers kept him away. FYI, Amann supported Lieberman after he lost the 2006 Democratic primary to Ned Lamont.
The 61st Annual Connecticut Democrats' JJB dinner was held at the recently built
Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT. We had the standard choice of rubber chicken or vegetarian dinner. I took the chicken. I also wore a simple black shirt and slacks with a bolo tie depicting an Indian on horseback in front of a teal blue sky. I actually dug out of my closet 3 bolo ties that were in good shape. I have a few that need new bolo tie ends. Anyone have suggestions where I can get them?
Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet Gov. Schweitzer personally, but it was great to see and hear him speak live. He was as energetic, enthusiastic, and humorous live as he was on videos I've seen of him online. After his speech, he held an on-the-spot auction of one of his bolo ties. He got the bid up to about $3K and then he got the help of a relative of my friend from Brooklyn, CT to model his bolo tie and then he got the final bid up to $4K.
Gov. Schweitzer is a great speaker, and I hope he does run for President of the United States in 2016. I'll be the first in Connecticut to sign-up for his future Prez campaign.
