And I don't give one shit if some DUers don't like him. I especially liked his take on what has happened to the Democratic Party because I think he is right the fuck on. And I think his take on the Republican Party is also accurate. This country is in a state of emergency and we are still allowing these slimeball politicians to be bought and paid for. Why are we allowing our politicians to be bought and paid for? Because for 15 or more years Right WIng talking heads have characterized even the most meager campaign finance reform as an attack on freedom of speech. It has become ingrained in the mentality of America. They could only do this because their masters OWN the fucking media. And this sad state of affairs makes me sick.

It basically started with Nixon and the head of Kaiser Permanante (spelling?) discussing it would be more profitable to keep people sick. And continued with Raygun, and got absolutely worse in 1994 with newt and his hateful attack machine - to the point where the dems were nothing but on the defensive and figured it would be just as good to keep on getting elected by taking money from lobbyists instead of fighting for their constituents!
We need more protests here (ala Tehran?)
BTW, don't get sick over this - you could go bankrupt due to our system!

Seems the guy that said there is only one major party the Corporate Party with: sub party a. The Democrats and sub party b. The Republicans Turns out he was right!

| 21. It did. Democrats did this because |
|
of a complicit MSM that let the GOP define Democrats. They have defined Democrats as "tax and spenders" (even when they are worse spenders), "weak on defense" and "anti-family value". The media has been completely unfair to my side.

| 11. I have a different take on Meghan. She's a valley girl who wants to contribute. |
|
Edited on Sat Jun-20-09 09:48 AM by Hamlette
She needs to learn (and Paul gave her some schooling) that you can't just come out and say "my friends are mad at me for talking to dems but we need to open a dialog between us" and then not want to (or be able to) talk about anything.
If she wants to sit at the adult table, she needs to be able to contribute.
I hope that she takes that away from the show instead of thinking "its just those awful dems beating up the poor republicans."
But she's young. She's the not very attractive daughter of a mother who obviously places a great deal of importance on looks and a father who did some honorable things in his life but who was probably not a great father. (I can't imagine he was around very much and he did leave his two children from his first marriage.)
She had a little taste of fame from blogging the election and she liked it. She faces a big problem right now. She won't be treated well by Fox because she says bad things about the GOP. She won't be treated well by dem shows unless she can contribute. If she continues to be seduced by fame she will learn something so she can sit at the adult table with dems or she will drink the kool aid so she can go on Fox. I hope she does the former and I'm not going to beat her up as long as she's still trying.

However, brushing something off as saying it happened before she was born is a statement that deserved to be pounced on. Then she tried to trot out a "picking on the poor blonde" line. She got schooled, knew it, and started to turn into a brat before Maher intervened. It was not a good moment for her.
She's going to have to become more informed, and learn to value perspectives that venture outside her own experiences before she can really contribute. I suppose that is part of being young, but frankly, she sounded more like 17 than 24 to me. Her attractiveness is irrelevant to me - there are some FoxNoise bimbettes that are quite physically attractive but have that completely negated by what they say.
I do think that she's genuinely trying to do something good for the country, though, and I can't fault her for that.
Oh yes, on edit: I'd love to see Ava smoke her in a public forum and teach her that youth is no excuse for ignorance.

her statements about being the only republican, being blond and it happening before she was born are indefensible.
And yes, she acted more like she was 17 than 24.
At least she hasn't done what Bristol did and become a hypocrite and a tool for her mother.
A big part of it for me is what a dysfunctional family background she has. I mentioned her looks because of her mother who comes across as a cold rich bitch. I doubt she has the brain power to contribute much but I give her something for her effort.
