Maher couldn't be more right about this. This is the very core of our foundation and what's wrong with America today. You can't go anywhere, watch anything, do anything without hearing advertisements. America is about money. We may be a Christian nation but the real Almighty is the Dollar. That's what we worship.

I wasn't raised Christian but I certainly don't see any reason to join up. Many people do believe we're a Christian nation, founded on Christian principles, etc. I live in Georgia where we can't buy alcohol on Sunday. But it's a red state which seems to suggest we have no problem with making war and torturing people.

24. The Almighty Dollar Indeed

The Pursuit of which is viewed as a Holy Quest. You can get away with anything as long as you're just trying to make a buck. War profiteering, TV news, and health care as Bill mentioned, but also a huge variety of scams and con artistry. Banks giving out predatory loans, credit card companies inserting huge rate increases in the fine print - any way you can figure out to rob people, as long as you file it under just trying to make some money, you can get away with in this country. The only reason Bernie Madoff got hauled off to prison is that he was robbing rich people. If it was just poor people he was scamming, like the people on the infomercials who sell the real estate books, you'd have never heard his name.
