Because technically you have to see a optician to get prescription lenses (if those are such). Technically, opticians are doctors...who work at the "Sears Eyeglass place". They don't really give you medical advice or check your health or anything remotely qualifying as what we refer to as "seeing a doctor."

Been feeling that frustration for a long time too. I have health insurance and I'm *still* avoiding going to the doctor because it keeps costing me way too much. Just my out-of-pocket is more than enough - $25 for a ten minute visit to the doctor. Insane is right. She's right. The only solution is for all of us to pitch in together. Health care is a human right and should not be a commodity.

My own story is pretty bad as well with this whole insurance thing. I'm now without it and forced to fight my ass off above and beyond what is even safe to get my weight down and bring blood pressure and blood sugar numbers down in the face of running out of medications. I guess it's a good thing that going vegan really does help the body heal and regenerate as much as many people out there keep saying it can. It's working out for me, but I always hear the sound of a little clock going *tick*, *tick*, *tick* over my shoulder.

Doctors can't and won't save me now, so it's up to me and lifestyle. Still, if something bad happens in the meantime I'm well and truly fucked. Sure, nobody twisted my arm and made me go out of my way to turn into a food addict, but there are now millions of people out there stuck in the same boat I am with respect to that or other problems -- whether under an individual's power to change them or not. It's not right.

My son broke his arm on a Sunday afternoon and we took him to the emergency room. The 1 tsp of aspirin was $20 and a sling was $185. However, this is not insurance company greed, this is the hospital charging me an inflated rate b/c it has to make up the cost from what Medicare, Medicaid and the indigent don't pay.

No, the hospital costs a lot because INSURANCE COMPANIES DON'T PAY. They approve procedures then they refuse to follow through. I've had surgeries "approved" by my insurance company, only to later have the payments refused to the tune of 15k out of my pocket. I pay $265.00 a month for insurance that require a 6k deductible and an ongoing battle over every dime of actual benefits.

What do YOU think your Holy Insurance company is actually DOING for Americans? Do you personally believe that the CEO of United healthcare's compensation of over 100k an HOUR has NOTHING to do with how much health care costs??

If medicare rates gave them a moderate profit, they can not take from that system, so to raise profit all they can do is raise rates of private system. And the reason medicare has some limits on payment is so they are not charged for a $40 aspirin.

If your statement was true, then health sectors would not have been increasing profits over the last years.

So is the price because of medicare or because of profit. And remember some of that money went to pay for people to legislate for more profit without regulation in the form of lobbying.

I just wanted to check out what was going on over here, since some of my new subscribers had mentioned seeing my video here. Who knew it was going to become a mini-phenomenon.

To answer some questions / accusations:

1) I didn't consider my glasses to be a doctor appointment, as it happened in a store in the mall. I can see where this may be up for debate so I concede this point. I have seen an eye doctor once since coming of age. I am 26 now, in case you were wondering.

2) I have never worn braces, that was just my genetic luck, I suppose. Thanks for noticing my naturally straight teeth, though (^.^)

3) My parents are also "crazy liberals" just like me. Though, if you knew me outside this video you wouldn't see me as particularly crazy. I just get worked up some times and I need to vent it out into the void. It just so happened that someone was watching.

Sadly, I've already forgotten the other assumptions that were made about me. If you want to ask any other questions, I'll check back and try to answer them to the best of my ability.

**One Last Thing**

Something no one seems to notice is that I never say what I actually support or want, just what I hate hearing about. My only point in this video is that the Town Hall Meetings are completely ridiculous because the people who go there don't seem to discus anything that is actually in the bill. All they talk about is how they don't want socialism, they have the right to carry a gun, and they want the government to keep its grubby hands off their Medicare. It was all just way too ridiculous and I lost it. I have a bit of a temper on me, I'll admit, but I think passion is a virtue, not a vice.

I understand that it is a "cultural thing" and that many people see yelling as anger and don't like it. For me, it's just another form of expression. I respect if you don't like seeing me glare at you for 4 minutes. To be fair, I never thought so many people would be watching.
