The WWE has gone out of their way to make Benoit an unperson. All merchandise has been withdrawn, website has been scrubbed, his name dropped from DVD's. Vince McMahon went on TV to declare his name will henceforth never again be mentioned, and I read a report from somebody who went to the Smackdown taping that purely respectful signs for Benoit were confiscated.
I know the company wants to distance themselves. But they may be going a little too far

Vince McMahon, owner of WWE, stated that Chris Benoit was a monster. I wonder, then, who was the Frankenstein that created the monster.

Vince is full of shit and the biggest monster there is. If there was any doubt after what happened with Owen Hart it was erased in the shameless exploitation of Eddie Guerrero's death (I quit watching then, it was the straw that broke the camel's back).
Welcome to DU, btw.

WWE has been my guilty pleasure since I was a kid and I'm just completely floored.
Sometimes I think this business just eats people alive and spits them out until there's nothing left.

The business and WWE especially just grinds people down. Wrestlers live to perform and promoters exploit that.

| 8. I think it's just the lighting and the quality of the video |

he doesn't seem like the kind of freak who has wierd unnecessary cosmetic surgery. I'm not really a fan of any wrestlers including him but I do give him credit for being the only one I've ever remembered to somewhat successfully cross over into being a non-wrestling-related pundit.

It's a combination of hair, lighting, video quality and the fact that he's just been through a week of sheer hell. From the look of him, it's been about a week since he got a decent night's sleep.

That lad has a future outside of wrestling. He's wasting his time there. He's real sharp and smart, the camera loves him and he had Nancy Grace just about drooling on herself.

He retired about two years ago. He's spent the time since trying to make it in mainstream entertainment and touring with his rock band (Fozzy).
He has said that he'll be coming back in the next year or so. Probably because he has a large house in a gated community, an expensive lifestyle, a wife and son and he hasn't made a huge amount of headway in the mainstream since he quit. The WWE is suffering from a star shortage right now due to injuries, people quitting (due to the horrendous schedule and lack of morale) and so on, so he could probably get a $600K downside (plus bonuses) and a fairly light schedule just to make up some star power.
Also, he's really talented, it'd be nice to see him back.

The current thought is that was someone on a spoofed IP who made a guess and turned out be scarily prescient.

| 15. an anonymous person made a confession from the same IP |
|
said they made the post about Nancy while reading rumors and speculation on the Internet about why Benoit missed the show he was scheduled to be on. Then it turned out right. I'm not sure if there is more to it as of yet, the person claims to be just an average person with no links to WWE and he/she made an ignorant edit based on speculation, which ended up being true. It's definitely bizarre, possibly more to this still.
