Is he the supervisor old woman's underwear ? What a shell of a man. He reminds me of a fuck that would call the cops if you raised your voice to him.

This was a wonderful example of how organized religion doesn't have to be a part of one's life.

I didn't have a single problem with the meat of this guy's assertions (starting around 1:30); I don't think many religious people would disagree with most of them. However, he did come off as arrogant because he's absolutely and unconditionally certain that the particular way he views life, the universe, and everything is the true and correct version.
He's sort of like Kirk Cameron in that.
Part of that perceived arrogance is because he's young and happy to be filled with the strength of his convictions (we've all gotten annoyed at fundie youth and door-to-door zealots); but part of that perceived arrogance is probably because he cannot even conceive of how someone could be a free thinker with different beliefs than his.
Which begs the question: How can you *really* be a free thinker if you think you know all the answers?
You can't.
Ah, maybe I'm being a little rough on the guy here; but I can see where people would perceive arrogance.

saying that religions didn't do that. Of course they do. They come off as arrogant as well.
It's the same thing in my mind, and no one likes it.

What does that mean? Are you a Christian or not? Can you be a half-Christian?
If you agree with the 1st part of what he says, you are no Christian.
What is up with these people who disagree with major and essential Christian doctrine but still "identify" as Christian? If you don't believe in all the superstitious mumbo jumbo, you are not Christian. That's a big part of it, y'know.
If you just like Christ's message of compassion, then fine but it takes more than that to be Christian. Many other religions stated the same things Christ did way before Christ. I like the notions of treating people as you would be treated but I am no Christian. Christ's secular message is good. But to be a Christian you must also believe he is your savior (from what?) and the only way to be redeemed (whatever that means) is thru believing he is your savior. IOW... you must accept all that supernatural nonsense....which free thinkers don't.
I suspect calling oneself a Christian but not actually following the religion is a social thing... fear of being ostracized and an outcast.

you care what I believe.
In general, I accept the teachings of Jesus and strive to live a life like his: loving and giving without judging. Because I understand how the Bible was assembled, written, and edited over the years I don't pay as much attention to the rest of it. I certainly don't believe it is the literal word of god. I don't much care about the afterlife or about much else in the Bible besides the wisdom of making people's lives on Earth better.
Every person who calls his or herself a christian picks and chooses what to believe and practice from the Bible without exception. There is no definitive Christianity, just as there is no definitive Hinduism or Atheism.
I'm unsure why anyone should get to tell me what I need to believe in order to call myself a christian. I was raised an atheist, but Jesus' message *in particular* resonated with me and changed my life. I think everyone should read and think and decide what they think is important in their individual philosophies and religions. No one should try to do that for them.
Seriously, how would you like it if I told you that you couldn't be an atheist unless you believed in genetic predetermination? You'd rightly tell me to leave you to believe what you chose.
As for my religion being a social thing: Absolutely! I love my church and I love doing good things in my community. I'm proud of the good work we do.

use your religion to advance your political beliefs, because it diminishes both your politics and your religion.
