Progressive leaders ask people in DC to set the Progressive Agenda, DC people say : "ask for half of what you want" and then the blue dogs compromise it down to 10%. Reforms don't work and Republicans rail against "liberal" failures.
It's a nice racket.
I esp. liked the comment about union rallies banishing single payer signs. The "public option" HCAN astroturf group succesfully got progressives to self-censor their support for "socialist" single payer. Nevermind that the "public option" was called socialist with equal vigor.
Hey you want people to get behind real healthcare reform? Tell them they won't lose it if they get laid off, go back to school, quit to raise thier kids. Tell them they'll never see another bill for any medical procedure. Tell them that they will never again pay a deductible or a copayment. Tell seniors that Medicare copayments are going away and that they'll get full coverage. And tell them this can all be done with what we spend today becuase we're going to eliminate the middleman and realize hundreds of billions in savings.
The democrats took another dive on healthcare and the soldout and or stupid/naive liberal/progressives went along with it, its just that simple.

It's got a catchy name, no blue dogs, and a simple platform in support of a better life for rank and file Americans against corporate and big brother interests. Big Brother is bad, we'll just keep the little brother part that serves people.
