...to remind me of the dishonesty of the anti-abortion movement. My "doll" measures three inches in length and looks like an infant with an umbilical cord.
At that size, a fetus doesn't have skin, just a transparent membrane that will become skin. Its tail hasn't been reabsorbed completely. It looks more like a polliwog (which is where we get hiccups from) than a human.
The idea of a fetus as a homunculus is the number one fallacy that allows the right-to-lifers to promulgate their crap. Most people don't know enough about embryology and development to recognize that a fetus is not a "miniature" infant.
But locally, one anti-abortion activist stands at Planned Parenthood's gates with one of these "dolls," claiming that it's an example of the "babies" that entering patients are about to "kill."
Dishonesty and ignorance: the ugly twins of the anti-choicers.
