At the minimal...at the minimal...those tankers regular to super should be on site at the ready perhaps 2 to 5 miles off site...ready! to much time has been wasted. Our options should be at the location and ready.
God this is horrific
makes you wonder if we really are doomed, my goodness if a small asteroid strike was to penetrate the ocean and hit a vein of oil.

people would begin to panic. If the thing is bigger that Maryland and Delaware now in just 36 days and its growing geometrically, it could be bigger than the entire US by August. How many dead zones is this creating, or delayed fish life cycles? If any of this is true, we should be advised.

So Ronald Reagan drank the bullshit coolaid of the Chicago economists.. the libersnarians.. government haters.. Ayn Randian wacko market-fundymentalist kookjobs. And look how much better they all did. First the Vampire Squid boys RAPED the US economy down to it's poor sad busted toenails.. then the oil boys produced what is no surprise whatsoever! Many saw this coming a long time ago! But of course they were derided as "kooks". Hah! The real kooks are those pinheads from University of Chicago and Harvard that cooked up this insane bullshit. And the ignorant damn rightwinger retards that put goofy Raygun in power and let him rip the guts out of the system. Smart businessmen.. my ass.

| 63. I haven't been able to screw up my resolve to boycott our local BP stations. The people |
|
who own them and work at them are good people who really don't have anything to do with this. Their sin is they provide us the fuel for our vehicles. So I'm trying to separate the BP corporation from the people on the local level.
Rather than punish the BP station owners and employees, let's punish the CORPORATE FLUNKY-CRIMINALS who caused this spill to happen. I mean, really punish, as in prison for a long time. Not Club Fed either, but someplace like Leavenworth.
AND let's keep fining them until they are sucked dry of their filthy, ill-gotten gains. Let the corporation die -- or rather, be put to death, by the American government representing its citizens.
The small local business owners will sell gas under another brand name. Hopefully one that has finally been made aware of the consequences of this type of crime.

So, what is this - just a riser (a feeder junction) that got separated during the initial explosion? Am I understanding what they're saying correctly?
Is the second plume actually much bigger - 210,000 bbls/day? "Elephant behind the mouse" Guess we'll find out, sooner or later.

Is it possible that story was a cover that never really happened. They used this to buy time because what actually happened is the wellhead blew, as you suggest, from increased pressure at the depth when they tried to cap the BOP. Florida beaches just taken off most recoed beaches.

Perhaps pinned for the weeks to come. I wish I could recommend it 1000 times.
It is by far the most informative conversation/interview I have heard since day one. These two men offered more insight, truth and solution in one interview than BP has for the entire duration of this catastrophe. The information was frightening to hear, but, it was strangely comforting to finally hear something that makes sense from men who sound smart and honest and who spoke with great authority.
These are the men who need to be running the show. They spoke of sensible, effective methods that could (and should) have been used from day one to capture the majority of oil directly from the source - before it had a chance to spread - before it was chemically dispersed and hidden beneath the surface.
I wonder how the president feels about this. If he even knows?

| 29. I don't know who these guys are, but his is complete bullshit. |
|
I made it about halfway through, and I'll watch the rest later, but I don't have any idea what the hell these guys are thinking.
First off, the location of the well head is very carefully surveyed and logged--that is where the ROV's would go to--the surveyed location of the well head not just hunting around for for some plume. Plus that BOP is abut 50 feet tall and must weigh at least three hundred thousand pounds--maybe much more, if it got ripped off of the well head, there is no chance at all that it would come to rest upright on that bottom. That'd be like parking a semi truck on jello.
Not that there is no chance for a leak to come from underground and just pop through that bottom sediment, but so far it looks like the well is directing the flow into the BOP which is partially obstructing the flow.
For the record, yes, I am a petroleum geologist who has spent a few years drilling oil wells in the Gulf of Mexico. I left that field about ten years ago, but I have been following a lot of these accounts closely. This disaster is 100% as horrible as anybody here thinks it could be, but the bizarre and random speculation of these two guys isn't really adding anything useful. That blown out well is flowing hard and putting a shitload of crude right into the Gulf of Mexico, but it looks to me like it is doing it through the Blow Out Preventer and Riser. (THe riser is the long pipe leading from the Wellhead/BOP to the oil rig, and they are designed to be somehwat flexible and allow for movement of the floating oil rig on the ocean surface.

|
Matt Simmons blathering about the riser being attached to the rig floor and not the well--even though in the ifrst frames of the supplemntary video you see the vertical BOP with the kinked riser pipe attached to it. If his statement is right all you'd have in the riser would be residual oil from what came up the pipe when the Deepwater Horizon blew up. It wouldn't keep flowing under obvious pressure for more than month if that were the case.
The other guy is a lot more reasonable and is just saying that while the Top Kill effort makes some sense in theory, it most likely won't work. I am kind of inclined to agree with him on that score. If the junk shot works, then BP can keep the drilling fluids (AKA mud) going down into the hole rather than OUT into the gulf, they might be able to get this stabilized. It's a bit of a long shot, but it is a reasonable plan to stop the flow of new oil.
Which obviously doesn't deal with the catastrophe already in the water.

are truly biblical. I was thinking to myself, what is the color of a dead man's blood, and I thought, wait, doesn't it turn really dark, and yes it does, after the body goes into lividity and the blood stops passing through the chest picking up oxygen.
Throughout all of this calamity, and it's hard not to be bothered by it, I keep my faith in Christ. It is easy to be hopeless feeling, with so much that is occurring, and who hasn't felt things are horrible? We are just called to use our time wisely.
A Nostradamus expert would certainly be interesting to listen to right about now, wouldn't they? Or a Revelation expert? Definitely wild times.
God bless/good vibes.
