1. Edwards is probably one of the more aggressive on Global Warming, but 2050 . . .. ???

Every time I hear one of the candidates talk about 2020 or 2050, it's understood to be a sham.
We need change right now -- drastic change -- in fact, if we could get all electric cars on our roads in the next five years, we might be getting some where.

Coal plants -- ????? How much damage has Cheney done already?

3. I hear you...

...although the 80% reduction by 2050 number is what the leading experts are calling for. What they also say, however, is that there has to be an incredibly drastic reduction in greenhouse emissions within 10 years, otherwise the damage is done and no amount of reduction after we've reached the "tipping point" will make a difference.

I think the message needs to be sharpened a little - telling people about things that need to be done 40+ years from now just doesn't resonate. The message needs to also make clear that, look, even if we cut all emissions today, worldwide, we'll still suffer environmental and economic consequences from the warming we've already caused.

4. From some of the stuff I've seen out there

we have already passed some "tipping points" and have already caused irreversible damage - that without drastic change in our behaviors could be so bad within 10 years as to be permanently catastrophic.

We need electric cars NOW. We need to quit allowing the military to burn up massive quantities of fuel fighting unnecessary wars. We need to change just about everything about the way we deal with energy and waste.

I dread what the future has in store for my 3 year old son.

5. Absolutely!!! And most of the nation is very late to this issue -- they don't understand that . . .

it's an old issue from 50 years ago -

And that we are way behind in responding because of the oil companies' propaganda and lies -- very effectives lies by the way.

Only ExxonMobil is still at it -- suicidal!!!

And politicians like Cheney/Bush covering up and denying it all --

The Pentagon warned Bush a few years ago that Global Warming was a bigger threat to America than "terrorism" and would result in chaotic weather -- earthquakes, increased hurricanes, storms, tornadoes, cyclones, etal --

And -- we can't even guess at how all of this will compound and play out --

PLUS . . . POLLUTION AND OVERPOPULATION -- !!!!


PS: In fact, when Al Gore testified before Congress -- Senate or House, I'm not sure which; he did both -- he began by talking about new reports of "increased shaking of the planet" -- based on seismic reports. Now -- what I saw quite some time back -- 12 years??? -- was a report in the NY Times front section -- a small article which said that "the dams and reservoirs built by our Corps of Army Engineers over the past 50 years were impacting the rotation of the earth."

And you might recall that back then we had a lot of talk about knocking down the dams -- which would have been for a number of reasons ....

Al Gore never got back to that subject -- nor finished the story on it.
