Views on DU: 441 | The US has been responsible for literally millions of deaths throughout the 20th century via illegal coups, establishing dictatorships in 3rd world countries and CIA-backed private wars.

Penny Lernoux has written some good books on the subject. 'Cry of the People' (Doubleday, Garden City, NY, 1980.), 'In Banks We Trust', etc.
I noticed that when Cardinal Ratzinger took the throne, he immediately engaged in outreach to the right-wing Swiss schismatics (Mel Gibson-style 'Catholics'). Then he went down to Latin America and publicly indicted the liberation theologians, essentially declaring open season on them, so the School of the Americas grads could hear.
He kinda looks like a Charles Addams cartoon character.
