I'm talking about Evangelical Christians, mostly. They're pre-occupied with sin and the wicked world around them and the rapture, and of course they bring their right-wing politics into every discussion. I don't think they realize how miserable they are.

The time that Xians put aside for peace on Earth, goodwill toward men is now on it's 11th season of The War On Christmas. They work up a mouth frothing rage over Christmas cards saying "Happy Holidays" and "Season's Greetings" in these secular times instead of Merry Christmas. This despite the fact that Hallmark says that almost 40% of their Christmas cards since the 50s had either Season's Greetings or Happy Holidays on them. Wankers.

5. Well, I tried to be an optimist but I got too depressed.

It depends on the person. I know plenty of people who are devout Christians and are happy, and plenty of miserable atheists. I've met people who believe in god but consider suicide everyday, and non-believers who whistle during a hurricane.

I can not over-express that it depends on the person.

7. Ignorance is bliss

In addition to the fact that a social network contributes to religious people having a higher level of happiness than nonreligious people, another reason supporting this notion is the internal anxieties that are relieved for people who do not contemplate the most important questions of life, such as what happens at death.

Religious people are not individuals who can put forth rational arguments about death and who can tell you why their conception of an afterlife is better than other conceptions. Instead, religious people utilize faulty reasoning to avoid contemplation - ignorance is bliss.
