I want to BUY THAT GUY A STEAK dinner! Or whatever his palate fancies - with ALL the trimmings and a coupla beers to boot! Too bad the MSM won't aire this. This is the kind of clarity and honesty that makes sane and sentient folks wanna jump up and shout! Where ARE the rest of the Dems on this? How come we never hear them kick like this? How hard would it have been to see several other Dems standing behind Weiner while he delivered this??? Or are they worried the Ins. Ind. might cut them off???
Go Anthony Go :kick:

So tragic because this is exactly what all the numskulls out there need to hear. Having a man like Anthony Weiner in Congress gives me hope despite all the madness of politics. I'm sure the republicans did their usual dismissal of sound reasoning so they could hold onto their selfish interests but he's right, at some point the truth of their position cannot be ignored. The fact that they have to "squirrel" around their own position reveals clearly that they know what they are doing to Medicare is wrong, pure and simple - wrong.

Smart Dems know better than to primary an encumbent Dem President. No Dem with common sense is going to be willing to ruin their career by helping put a repig in the White House.

The Yiddish word for taking great pleasure in something, usually the accomplishment of a relative or friend, is kvell. When your nephew wins the spelling bee, oy, vas I kvelling.
When Weiner speak, oy, I kvell.

Not that I had one bit of misunderstanding about anything Anthony's said - it's just that I LOVE watching him mash Republican's faces in their own doo. He does it with SUCH class and frankness. I sure to hell hope he's there in DC for eons to come. We need to get Grayson back in that hall as well. Those two would make one hell of a tag team!

Obama's a good speaker and all, but, as the fellow said, we need more matter with less art. So far he has used the bully pulpit to legitimize Republican extremism-- not only on Social Security and Medicare, but also on war, arbitrary executive power, government spying on Americans, transparency, etc. etc. etc.

The first time I heard Weiner speak, I fell in love with him and he just gets better all the time. That speech was full of great talking points for the Dems to use.

Wiener got up and admonished the Republicans to stop saying "that#s not what we meant," or "that's not what we said" every time the public catches one of their plans and hates it. Wiener says to them, if this is your plan then embrace it and stick to it, or change parties. We are against your program, we say so, and we stand by our position. Republicans should stop trying to wiggle out of standing by what they said whenever closer examination of their proposals shows them to be BS, or downright destructive to all but insurance companies, even if they are a wholly owned subsidiary.
Hope that helps. With Wiener, being a "deafie," as you put it, is definitely a disadvantage--like a blind man trying to appreciate a Picasso. You can get a description, but it's never going to be an adequate substitute--sorry if my summary was lacking!
