| 1. It shouldn't take a lawsuit for teachers and admins. |
|

this actually made the local news when it happened but no one got litigious, the superintendent denounced it a few fingers were wagged, but it was addressed.. http://www.minnpost.com/politicalagenda/2009/10/08/12309/red_wing_school_administrators_denounce_racially_insensitive_eventim actually from Red Wing but long removed. pretty isolated and they dont call it the great white north for nothing. but in its defense, I would say this is not reflective of Red Wing as a community.

| 3. Somebody is going to be looking for a new principal job. |
|
That was unbelievably poor judgement on the part of the administration!

| 6. What if it goes "unofficial"...little the school could do |
|
We had that happen a few times when our girls were finishing up HS. Admin refused to support something and the students did it anyway without official endorsement.

This gets me to thinkin'. I can't stand bigotry. The adults in the room should have done something sooner. That being said, remember a.few years ago when any sports team that was named after Native American tribes or behaviours had to change names. I hate the n word. I hate the c word. But I believe in free speech. I don't get exercised about the use of tard or fuck. I don't care if an author uses the word "pussies" to describe teabaggers. I don't think they mean my personal parts. I've seen white boys on a 'Jerry' type show in long loose shorts, baggy sports jerseys, crooked caps, doing the fingers pointed down hand gestures, calling each other homeboy and the 'n' word. Gave me the impression that it was like a life style choice. They were imitating because they like the hip hop look and attitude. That day I thought, it isn't so much skin color as attitude. Those kids acted out the language, dress, and behavior, white n-ers.
I still think the school admin was ridiculous to allow such blatant disrespect of an entire race.
