I'm quite impressed with this economist and would put him in the ranks of Paul Krugman, Joseph Stiglitz and other progressive (i.e., NON neoliberal) economic experts. Why aren't these people advising President Obama instead of the Goldman Sachsers??

2. We can do better than capitalism or corporatism.

We can do better than capitalism or corporatism. Exploitation of the poor 99% will end soon. We are at the edge of a new, peaceful world, where life is improved, the people are empowered, and modernity thrives.

3. Interesting interview,.

public health care is a major issue,. not having it had proven wrong-headed.
The way to remove the corruption of money in politics is to remove the politicians. We no longer need representatives to speak on our behalf. We can do this now ourselves,. we could build a system of open public continuous voting on many major issues. Voting could be done at any time on a net based system, (libraries are free public voting places). Votes are public to make counting possible and hacking less likely. Also you can lobby your fiends and family if you find they are voting against your interests, as all votes can be changed at any time. Then public workers are bound to be neutral and implement the will of the people. This is just one level of a more democratic system of collective decision making. Public face to face debates of issues,. as well as organized and moderated online debates and working groups,. and civic life will shape and change what people vote for, or oppose.
The system of voting for a proxy (politician) once every few years,. and just letting them have at it, unaccountably, has proven useless, in translating collective will to public policy. There are any number of ways we could organize ourselves,. anyway that is more democratic and egalitarian would be a vast improvement on what we have been experiencing.

5. I´m not so sure thats a good idea.

I think we would have bacon dispensers on every street corner paid for by the former medicare budget.
I have just as little faith in direct democracy as in dirty politicians. Remember Switzerland and how people were marshalled into banning minarets despite it being four in the whole country.

6. if you look at opinion poles,.
|
the general consensus on many issues is quite reasonable,. you only really hear from the radicals in the corporate media,. and these are the corporatist views. Actual public opinion is generally quite positive and construcutve.
