When the Senate failed to proceed to debate on the American Jobs Act, Senator Harry Reid vowed to bring up each piece of the legislation individually. The Rebuild America Jobs Act represents the first such attempt and focuses on one of the more lauded areas of government spending and job creation: infrastructure.

1. This portion of the jobs bill won't pass until something horrible

happens to some of our infrastructure. And something horrible will happen, considering how old and out-of-shape so much of it is.

I don't know whether I like this provision of the bill as written and as it will work out. It could, as far as I know, be a total corporate giveaway.

But we definitely need to upgrade our infrastructure. It's just shocking how bad it is.
