| 1. It's like referring to a male candidate as "asshole" or "the prick" or "shithead". |

Someone asked, if this had been a Democratic Senator and a Democrat in the audience---would there have been more harsh reaction from press. In other word is McCain getting a pass?
The explanation: McCain was with a group of Hard Core Republicans. and McCain would not dare correct them.
The Democrats would be expected to do better. They are the politically correct. They set their standard with their political correcness. In other words, they open themselves up for more corrections.
I am still puzzling. I guess it is expected that the Democrats have better manners.
The woman who made the comment was an older woman--I think MCCain was flummoxed and could not figure out what to do. Those Conservatives are hornery bunch.
I still expect some passes for Democrats.

if this was a dem senator responding to a supporter who said in reference to Condi, "how do we beat the bitch?". their heads would be all puffed up saying how derogatory to women it was and blah blah blah...
Yes, this sure helped Hillary imo. We knew she'd get this stuff. And yes, she's stone cold appearing at times, but I am disgusted at anyone insinuating she's a b***h. So, this surely will make most people feel they want to defend her. McCain's response was weak. He should have called her on it and said first thing, "Well I appreciate your resolve in supporting me, but I don't think of anyone I'm running against as that, but to answer how we win...." - he'd show he can lead... obviously, we know he cannot.

Took this in stride and but I can't help but think there is some resentment. This is a gender put-down and it may well backfire. Once again, Hillary is not my choice but I am forced to support her because of the abuse.

And if she had called Obama the n-word, would it still have been as funny? Would that talking-head have laughed it off and said, "Who hasn't thought of him as the n-word? What voter hasn't considered him that?"
