26. I'm here in Illinois but closer to Kentucky than Chicago

and our high is around twenty today, maybe a little under. 16 degrees now with a wind chill of 5 and 5 degrees overnight. Long underwear time for these parts. ;)

32. Personally I'm kind of out of the mix right now

but my son tells me that he thinks who will take it is Alexi Giannoulias. He says the ladies love Ginnoulias and he plays well with male voters also. Of course my son is a liberal Democrat so he may be biased but he works in a field where he should be in the know.

The thing is that downstate does not carry enough votes to overturn Chicago. Who wins in Chicago will usually win the state. Only if Chicago was close to a tie would downstate votes matter. That is why most candidates focus on upstate during their campaigning and that is why Obama was so different in 2004. In the past I would have resented the fact that the votes down here don't count as much as up state, but since watching the election results county by county, I say "Thank God for Chicago!".

It's hard to tell who's who on this board any more. Teabaggers are posting and some folks think they have a reasonable position. It's impossible to have real discussion and debate on policy. The attitude around here lately is polarizing and paralyzing.

If you are for Obama, you are against them, in their view. Period. End of conversation.

18. I agree, a guy I never heard of, had no journal started to almost

become a stalker because I mentioned DU needed a pat down security check like in the airports. Took it very, very seriously and wanted to know what I was implying. Thread was locked before I could respond but you are right. It's orchestrated but I'm glad so many are fighting back. Good to "see you" goclark and thanks.

would be needed after we elected a Dem president? It absolutely boggles the mind. I have it on pretty good authority that folks, who don't necessarily have the good of the Democratic party, and especially this president, are being directed here from places like Firedog Lake. That explains a lot. DU'er, ProSense, currently has a post somewhere over in GD from a teabagger who left a post over at FDL. I don't have to tell you that it's disgusting, but some of them have joined up with Ms. Hamsher, and spread out through the progressive blogosphere from there, and places like noquarter.com.

I'm hoping that the new year will bring some much needed sanity & balance back to DU.:hi:
