Bob Johnson turned a once strong Black cable network into commericialized, stereotypical trash that copies other networks (i.e. MTV).
Here is a brief BET Then and Now:
Then
BET News, Teen Summit, Our Voices (Real News, and positive stuff), Video Soul, Midnight Love, Planet Groove, Video Vibrations, (Grown Folks Music! :)) Comic View, Rap City (the earlier years), Sunday informercials (a waste of time). A couple of entertainment shows, some good, some bad.
Now
106 & Park (TRL MTV knockoff), Hell Date (MTV knockoff of Punk'd), We've Got to Do Better (formerly Hot Ghetto Mess), Spring Bling (another MTV knockoff Spring Break), College Hill, (MTV knockoff of The Real World), College Hill Interns, Baldwin Hills, reruns of The Wire, The Wayans Brothers, The Jamie Foxx Show, etc. They used to have the x-rated Uncut video show before it was finally pulled three years ago, and other hit and miss shows.
The only good thing about BET is their specials (i.e. Hurricane Katrina concert "Saving Our Souls," Celebration of Gospel, BET Awards, American Gangster documentaries, and newsworthy election stuff). It's is still a joke they didn't bother to cover the funerals of Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King, yet, they chose to air the same bling-bling, booty shaking, videos every day.
In other words, yes Bob Johnson is an Uncle Tom, who not only supported Bush, but sold out the Black community for money and greed at our expense.
