I'm almost to the point of thinking DU is fucked.

When prominent DUers cite breitbart as a source for an attack on Obama, you know this place has not only jumped the shark, but turned around and eaten it.

I'm starting to agree with Nance and grantcart on this... DU may be on its way to becoming irrelavent. It's been marginalized by people who think siding with teabaggers and Norquist is acceptable since Obama is in power and we must fight the power for the sake of fighting the power. Let's ignore all the good work that's been done this year and focus on the negative because, well, that's what too many people here do.

Fuck it all.

and i understand what you are saying to some extent, but i think this group is worthwhile and i am sure others at DU are pro administration. It is obvious that some of the people on DU had some real idealistic expectations of the president so i can understand the dispointment, but like i said in another post, Democrats need to respond in a constructive way and not tear the President down.

In short, people who have been here as long as you have should stay and dialouge with other Democrats that need the support.

6. Thanks for the mention but let me clarify

I don't think that DU is becoming irrelevent but is becoming increasingly trivial at times.

Because of this group and a substantial core of people who are committed Democrats I still find this place relevent and important.

As the "self appointed Bishops of left wing orthodoxy" become more and more detached from reality and more trivial it becomes easier to poke holes into their superinflated egos and threads.

I don't take those folks seriously and by treating them with humor I think that we can influence a lot of good folks who have their hearts in the right places but get dragged into over heated rhetoric.

You can already see a split between the "professional" doom sayers and folks that are genuinely disappointed but are loyal Democrats. I think it is very important to identify those in the latter group and continue to stay engaged with them. AllentownJake is an example and I don't think he would object to that charachterization.

These folks are our longterm allies and brothers and sisters in arms, and I think with a little longer track record they will find that the balance of the President's track record to be much more to their liking.

first and updating threads is a fine stress reliever and then I go out into GDP and find postive action threads..it's a great Change in the way I navigate DU.
