| Poll question: Do the American people really want change? |
|
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2010/01/11/blogs/coopscorner/entry6084883.shtml?tag=contentMain;contentBodyI ask the question in light of the article posted above on "the irony of Obama's polling numbers" - namely that people claim to want to see changes, but then bristle when changes are being made. So do you believe that people honestly want change or that they'd prefer things just get better without having to do anything to make it happen?

| 1. I think they do, but generally |

In a large view. I don't think every single thing has to change.
The average liberal likely approve of Obama for intending to close Gitmo, for example, and isn't concerned with how long it takes or with the details. You get those snarky comments that there is no change there, but there is and the devil may be in the details, but it will be closed. Torture would no longer be used. Same with Iraq - geez, these people saying Obama is like Bush! Do they think Bush would be drawing down in Iraq.
The main change was just going back to normal, with respect for the rule of law and for other nations.

all around us..just bc it's denied by some internet posters doesn't mean anything.
There's all kinds of denial in the world. I actually know people who deny Global Climate Change.

| 2. The problem is we cant agree on what "change" is.... |
|
.... for someone it might be "a President who more fervently supports a progressive agenda" while to another it might be "a President who puts the best interest of the people ahead of partisan rancor" and those are to mutually exclusive things.

| 3. Everyone's perception of change is different. Nobody agrees |
|
anybody else about the changes that need to be made. Just look at the Senate Dems. Sure, they wanted to change health care in this country, but the spectrum of ideas was mind boggling. I think that pretty much represents the spectrum of public opinion, state to state.
So I said B.

It seems like most people are wanting the end result to happen overnight rather than showing patience to go through the changing process.
