Of course the media won't give him credit for doing a good job so I just hope people are watching and recognizing it.

Aside from the blind blithering inhumanity of it all, there was a strong message to the rest of us: "You're on your own, suckers." I stocked up on dried food and wondered that if we survived the collapse of our house, would we then survive the wait for response from our own government, or would we have Blackwater goons guarding the grocery stores from us.

When Bush had a tsunami to respond to overseas his initial reaction, when it came, was very muted. He said the US would send some paltry sum. I think someone behind the scenes must have twisted his arm to get things moving. Maybe Poppy and the Big Dog cooked up their mission on their own and just told Junior they were on their way and he better get with the program.

I look at how President Obama is handling this major natural disaster in a neighboring country, with personal calm and competent professionals in charge of coordinating the USAID efforts, and now that I am thinking about this I realize I may not have to fear surviving California's "Big One" after all.

Once again, thank you Goddess for letting us have Barack Obama, and please keep him safe.
