"It was all the DLC's fault"
Lol
Oh, really?
Several morons were in the restaurant celebrating after the race was called. "Good", they said, "they were going to take our money". Then I remembered that Martha said "we're going to have to raise taxes" - that's the point whe I cringed. Well, that and listening to her lackluster ads before she was forced to go negative.
Funny, "DLC" has never been uttered in a conversation outside of DU in my entire life. Pretty lame boogieman if you ask me.

I don't know why that get's thrown around so much. Nobody is talking about the DLC outside of DU.

Not that a new one would make any more sense, but it's become a simple 'eye roll', unrec & 'hide thread'. What use is that?

So, per that reply to your thread in GD, you and I are supposed to stay in our room.
Good Democrats who support the Democratic president are supposed to lay low in our group on the Democratic Underground.
Pretty, er, disturbing.
But glad to be here.

The MA dems for nominating such a weak candidate.
Coakley for not putting in the effort needed to win
Those on the left that help tear down the Democrats in the eyes of the independents (those are the ones that won the election for Brown)

|
I'm glad only a limited number of people went with this excuse, but it still baffles my mind.
BTW, I think Capuano (who I supported) would have mopped the streets with Brown. She thought she could simply get in on seniority - epic mistake that has me scrambling to decide whether to stay on Cobra or sign up at my new company (rates are $26k/yr for me and my kids - I pay 1/2 of that.) What's worse is that times are bad and we made less than $1k profit for the 3rd quarter. My health insurance would have turned that into a loss :(

Or she wouldn't have gone if Howard still ran the DNC. Or it doesn't really matter since all Democrats are really Republicans now.

Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 12:43 PM by DevonRex
They've been saying that Obama is just like a republican almost since the inauguration. If that's the case, why note vote for a republican? Believe it or not Massachusettes people read the internet. They search for information about issues and candidates, just like every other American does. All they have to do is put the word democratic in any search and DU will pop up.
And when they click on DU they'll find hundreds of anti-Dem, anti-Obama, and quite a few anti-Coakley posts. And when they read those threads they'll see that Democratic Party and Obama supporters have targets on their backs for abusive attacks. If a poster says vote for Coakley because she's the Democrat, you see that poster being attacked and told to vote POLICY NOT PARTY.
Now let me ask this: If you were an undecided voter in MA and searched for information on the candidates, came here to DU and saw what I have just accurately described above, what would you think about Democrats?
So, take a bow Huffington Post, World Socialist Workers, FDL, and yes, DU. Your message got through. Obama is a worthless corporatist. The Democratic Party is just like the Republican Party now. And Coakley? Well, since she's a Democrat that means she's really a Republican. Might as well vote for the guy who posed naked and knows who the fuck that baseball player is.

Ask any number of people how they found Democratic Underground.. an a sizable percentage will be Democrats who were looking for an area to share ideas with other Democrats.
Media looks in here and takes some cues from the angst and promotes it on TV and radio as the voice of the Democratic party/
You and I know that is not true. It is in the Mission Statement this is not an offshoot of the Democratic party.
But people are people.
They see the word Democratic.. and first thing in their minds Democratic Party
Even that lack of convolutions in the gray matter Limbaugh.. references the Democratic Undergrounds as part of the party

There are some Dems and there are Greens and Socialists and the odd puke troll. A lot of Dems have left for obvious reasons. Anyway a person certainly can't come here to find out what the rank and file active Democrat thinks.
