Taking a break ...

I don't normally announce this, but I decided to do so this time.

I'll be taking a break from DU for several days. The last couple weeks has been emotionally exhausting, and the din "out there" is already at stupid on steroids levels. I can't don't want to imagine how bad it's going to be in the near future.

I have a couple projects I'm working on, one political, the other not, and I'm going to give my attention to those until I've recovered a bit, less I go nuclear on someone's ass. I almost did it Sunday evening and had to walk away from the keyboard then before I hit "Post" on that message. That's usually my cue I need to do something else for awhile.

Keep the faith. I'll be back before too long.

Obama's still awesome, and I'm happier every day that he's our President.

It's funny ... the local Democratic organizations aren't anything like DU is ... and this is Texas.

I've been mightily glad not a lot of people here looked too deeply into Houston's mayoral race. A certain contingent of DUers, who just happen to be he same people now loudly denouncing every single thing Obama does, wouldn't have liked Annise Parker too much. I woulda had to hurt someone 'cause I've actually met and talked with her and think she's just pretty awesome.

But she doesn't think too highly of Hugo Chavez, so ...

It is an odd boogieman.

I'd heard of them before I came to DU, but in a more rational context, i.e. in the context of a political science class I took years ago focusing on election cycles and what Democrats had done in the wake of 1980 - 84 to counter the so-called Reagan Revolution and respond to its own divisiveness.

And I learned a lot about how the party functions at a more basic level, but such things would not go over well out there in la-la land.

saw that..I don't even remember what it said but I figured you were having a wee bit of a meltdown.

It's okay..it's kinda unfathomable what happened with it being Teddy's seat in Mass and all but we don't know what will come of this and it could be something entirely different than a teabag agenda.
