I'm taking a break from my break because I feel so very sad. I wanted to hang out here because I figured you'd all get it. I don't want to lay blame or point fingers or call for beheadings. I just want to be somewhere where I don't feel so alone.

Our country has been sliding to the right for decades and decades. We thought that Obama could put the brakes on it, but it seems for every move toward progress, there is a backlash that sends us sliding back down the incline at a faster pace. I haven't felt this much despair since November 2004, and the path back seems ever so much more onerous and somehow inaccessible now. I hope that tonight is not a harbinger of things to come, but I am not feeling optimistic.

I don't know whence the cause any more. I only experience the affect.

I miss our Teddy so much.

I am truly pissed, and the biggest part of that is at our own for scuttling us this way.

I don't know if Coakley would have won if our left flank hadn't been sowing discontent and discord. Certainly she shoulders a fair amount of the blame here, but the discontent and discord isn't going to help us in any way.

This isn't ideological. What we're looking at here is stupidity. Worse yet it's the same damn stupidity the Republican radical right insists upon. I thought we were above that. I was wrong.

I am a little pissed at myself for being wrong about that too.
