What happened to Happy Land?
at the DEMOCRATIC Underground Forums?

I have taken a vacation from posting there and it is refreshing.

Today I read the threads and realized that the tone has definitely changed.

A few days ago they were Mighty Joe Youngs and now many are so sad and disheartened.

They were so joyful at the win in MA, now at least one is thinking of moving to another country. I thought they were hell bent on changing America and getting rid of the "do nothing Democrats" and electing (without any help from us)candidates who don't lie to them like our current leadership is doing.

Some are upset because of the Supreme Court Case (aren't we all) or so upset because they have taken off the Obama stickers from their cars and their job still isn't working out for them.

Don't they have enough Progressive friends in high places to get any job they want or are they like the rest of us --- What Happened to Happy Land?

What's the problem, I thought they were set to change the world?

I thought they were ready to show the Democrats a thing or two -- what;s up?

2. I was just shocked at the difference in two days
I want to hope that they will wake up and realize that we are all in the same boat and that President Obama and our Democratic Party is not the enemy.

and the Democratic Party is not the enemy.

I've got an infection in my eye today - sorry.

3. Their job seems to be to get upset
Interesting how they claim not to be in lockstep. They actually get upset in lockstep and it takes very little to set them off. They don't even check into things.

There are even threads telling them Obama wants to cut Social Security, and they are not even skeptical enough - they just K&R and foam at the mouth. I swear they actually want bad news, they so easily go for it.

9. Hah! I posted a prime example
with NO link (no call out), just a copy of the post here.

They removed my post here, but the post is still "out there."

A post referring to Democrats as "them."

Um, their slip is showing, methinks.

16. Well, here it is again.
This time I've removed the i.d. on it, so it shouldn't be a problem. I couldn't believe my eyes.

6. I think they were taken by surprise by the SC ruling
and have had the wind knocked out of them just as some of us have. While WE will either bounce back or not, and go on with our hoping for the best and that things will work out, they will not. Their hope was in overthrowing the democrats and somehow gaining power, now they are going to have to come to the painful realization that power is not theirs to have without us. The republicans are still running the show, and they were too far in denial to realize that. There may be a reason Obama was taking it easy on them, he had no other choice because even though he was president and had the majority in the congress, the power was still in the republican's hands, it had been set up to be that way over those lost eight years.

But they will bounce back in one way and that is whatever Obama does now will be because of what they have done to put him in his place. Yes, I went there. That is exactly what they have been trying to do. I read an article yesterday about Obama being too sure that he knew what was good for the country and that is one thing that people resented. They thought he was too sure of himself, they had to show him that he was not the one. ;)

(I don't know where the article was or would provide a link.)

7. I sure was taken by surprise at the SC Ruling
but I bet Rove was not ~ this evil deed was probably in the works for several years and Bingo!

Surprise, surprise!

It's like a train that I don't think we saw coming.

How I wish WE as Democrats could find common ground ~ do you think is is possible?

14. I wonder what they thing the SC will look like?
I wonder what the expect to come out of the Supreme Court if they fool around and get a Republican elected in 2012????? They have zero forethought.

15. They have negative forethought ...

... backward thought, even. And that's only half a joke.

What we've got here is a strange sort of reactionary group or groups. This sounds weird as a description of "progressive" thought since classical reactionaries are conservatives, but I think it fits, in a way. You see the same sort of backward gazing to the "good old days" of FDR, Kennedy, LBJ ...

It is said that if you live long enough, you'll see everything. Well, this is one more thing off my list: reactionary liberals.

10. About those bumper stickers
I'm not removing mine and I said so on another thread. Not the anti-Obama one. We have new neighbors that bought a home and brought their Obama yard sign and put it out. I'm putting mine back out closer to my door of course. But even in my neighborhood people seemed to have calmed down since the SC decision.

17. I am truly afraid
that if I had Obama bumper stickers on my car, someone would take a baseball bat to it.

That is exactly how bad it is here, and why I sought out DU. The BOG is a tiny safe haven in a world of crazy.

20. I still see a lot of Obama bumper stickers here...
I have two on my back window - though I suspect someone tried to rip one off. :(

The house down the street still has their Obama sign out.

But he sucks, obviously. No one likes him. :eyes:

18. What's happened to DU when a poster can call Obama
"a sellout piece of shit" and still be allowed to post? :banghead:

What does it take any more to receive a tombstone?
