| 90% of Democrats support Pres. Obama according to new MSNBC poll. |
|
That base is sure collapsing, eh?
Matthews asked Chuck Todd why his approval remains steady and relatively good at 50%, even with the current crisis. Todd responded, "because he hasn't lost his base..."
Ha!

of us. Not so sure about those loonies hanging out in GD and GD-P. Were they ever supporters? I often wonder about that.
They seem to have expected Obama to be a modern day Moses, ready to lead us to the Promised Land.
They seem to forget that it took Moses 40 years.

at all.
So since they are allowed to say any and everything they want to say, they take over a thread ~ it's orchestrated.

| 5. It seems the ever disgruntled voices on "the left" seem to get any M$M play. |
|
As Frenchie so often points out, there's an agenda at play. And if we, on the left, allow ourselves to become tools of the M$M, then we only have ourselves to blame. The good news is that I'm finally hearing some of the most strident Obama bashers say that it's time to take a breath. I think even they realize that being under sustained attack from the left & the right, isn't really helping move the administration's agenda forward.

There are many flavors of lefty here, and they only vote the Democratic ticket because their people can't gain enough traction to compete.
It seems to me that Dems in office aren't going to pander to them like their counterparts on the right are doing to their teabagger, fundie and other assorted wingnut constituents. At least I hope they won't.

| 12. There are twice as many self described conservatives as liberals |
|
so it's a lot easier for politicians to pander to the right than it is to pander to the 20% that make up the left.

Greens and Naderites might vote Democratic sometimes - hell, they might've voted for Obama. But they're not the base of the party because they don't belong to the party!

they aren't the democratic base. in fact they are the opposition just like republicans. only, unlike the repubs they are fairly irrelevant in real life

I'm a liberal Democrat. I'm pro-choice, anti-death penalty, socially liberal, and an ex-Republican. The far left makes me nervous: you can't just be anti-everything in a knee-jerk way. You have to become informed and think. I'm from the more educated demographic of the Dem party and am wary of extremes. Obama's thoughtful and intellectual approach really appeals to voters like me.

|
I grew up in a Repub family (and they still are) so just voted the way they did, but switched when I got to my forties and really started thinking about it. I guess it was Poppy Bush who was the last straw. Clinton just made so much more sense in '92.
