| A hard core "conservative" friend just told me she's nearing 1000... |
|
posts here, and even got a heart.
If there was any doubt that many of our erstwhile DU compatriots were confederates, that doubt is gone. I didn't ask her, but I'm sure she's very pleased about the way she's stirred up our pot.
Kudos to her. Shame on us.

Of course, I don't always follow that sound advice. But lately I've really tried. And ended up posting much less.

I figure, if she's posting here and has nearly 1000 posts, she's not hopeless.
I won't hold it against you for being a White Sox fan. I like them, too. Except for when they play the Cubs. :-) (Despite what some say, it IS possible to like them both. I'm just partial to the NL over the AL.)

The point is, that's in part what we're dealing with.
I do give them credit. They found a weakness and they have exploited it to their benefit and our detriment, and even got the administration here to help them.

Anti-Obama and anti-Democratic Party rhetoric is another. The kind of stuff we've been complaining about herein the BOG is corrosive to morale and it shows up in the polls.
I don't think Obama's decline in the polls is what the "conservatives" spin it to be, but it is still justification, to them, for their obstruction. Obama needs strong approval to keep his own caucus in line.
We could disagree without undermining our own leadership.

but somebody who goes on internet sites to deliberatley sabotage discussion and troll, whether liberal or conservative, is not somebody that I would ever consider a friend.
Beyond the intellectual dishonesty is the immaturity of such charachters.
I would ask her if that type of intellectual dishonesty and subterfuge is universally admired by her conservative friends? If she is proud of it has she shared it with her parents as well? They must be so proud.

I can count exactly zero times I've bothered to troll a pro conservative site ... or troll at all. I've always felt there was something not quite right about those who do. There's a real lack of esteem somewhere in the psyche.

It's hard to find liberals who will interact with "conservatives" at all. We generally won't tolerate their crap so maybe that's why they feel the need to troll here?
I posted on Free Republic for awhile but I stated my honest opinions. They didn't end up banning me. Was I trolling?

isn't my definition of trolling, is it your definition of trolling? Did you consider yourself a troll and then brag about it to your pals?
I too moderate a small board and our members have a wide range of opinion on any given subject. For the most part though, I would say we're left leaning. The several hardcore conservatives left the group right after Obama was elected. They didn't bother to send a note of explanation of their departure, just 'poof', gone.
You painted your friend as a 'pot stirrer' and proud of her trolling abilities. The people on this site who are angry with President Obama may make it easier for her to mask her trolling, but it still boils down to her enjoying that sort of deceptive activity.
I don't spend time trying to figure out who's trolling, it's just never been my thing. If some people are devoting hours to manipulation, baiting, etc ... and getting off on it, that's their issue, not mine.
Side noter - I see you're in Chicago. I'm in Chicago quite a bit - I love that city! It was a little intimidating at first, but I found the people so warm and wonderful, all my insecurities quickly disappeared. Oh man, and great food !!!

I'm not sure she is stirring the pot. That was an assumption on my part.
I have no good explanation for the anti-Obama, anti-Democratic Party sentiments here. I don't understand it. Malicious Freeper trolls seems like a good one, IMHO.
I've been here my whole life and most of my family is here. It's home, and yes we have some very good restaurants. We've had to cut back considerably though, with my wife out of work.

|
About the only things not tolerated here is opposing equal rights for gays and working for and/or supporting the defeat of Democrats. Cindy Sheehan couldn't be a DUer even though she's about as liberal as they come.
As long as one is a Democrat who votes for the Democratic candidate and is either supportive of gay rights or at least silent on their opposition to it, they can be pro-life, pro-NRA, supportive of the troop surge in Afghanistan, pro-death penalty, and/or a member of a fundie church, they can be a member here altough they may get a lot of abuse from others and possibly may not last long if they are too strident in expressing their views.
At least, that's the way I understand it.

Look, I'm not suggesting that her being here is a good thing for us. This is what I'm saying about her exploiting our weakness. I think anti-Obama and anti-Democratic Party, whatever they are, are our weakest link. I wish they would stop undermining our president and our politicians.
