... my guess is that labor pressure is the main factor.

He had nothing to lose and everything to gain by setting himself apart from the White House. It doesn't really affect him directly in his district. But, if he goes against labor organizations in his own backyard who promise to put up a primary opponent, he's going to have some trouble.

They may well say that they trust DK's judgment and if he does switch is vote to a "Yes", he did so after careful consideration of all the facts available to him.

This is normal and to be expected. Most everyone is far more forgiving of one whom they support then one they dislike.

Edit: Then I read posts where the Administration probably has threatened DK's family. I guess that's to be expected too.
